Architecture Workshop was commissioned to design and oversee the construction of the entrance foyer of a boutique pre-war cooperative in the heart of Tribeca. The building was built in 1920 to house an ammunition factory which yielded a robust concrete structure with 13 foot ceilings; the ground floor features a dramatic 20 foot ceiling.
The building has ten residential units which are all full floor apartments accessed via a keyed elevator.
This building has no doorman attending the lobby which necessitated a robust design solution that was inviting and stylish.
The new entry façade is meticulously crafted with steel profiles and oversized doors featuring custom designed stainless steel hardware.
A warm grey paint evokes the feel of raw steel while offering a low maintenance solution. Aside from the façade scope Architecture Workshop also provided design services for the interior of the complete lobby space.
