The Encase Apartment is a dialogue between old and new. Polished jewel box cabinets are judiciously inserted within the original building perimeter. The existing rough paint contrasts with new carefully crafted built-in cabinetry with a grey weathered wood under a soft satin sheen, concealing within a warm walnut interior.
Brass hardware details are located throughout the apartment, left unfinished to naturally oxidize and express their usage through time.
Circular portholes carved into the doors are reminiscent of luxury ocean liners. Judiciously composed niches reveal lush walnut interiors to anchor each room.
Extensive built-in casework define rooms. A door recessed in the center cabinet swings out creating an enclosure for the bedroom. The compact kitchen is tucked in another corner with a concealed floor to ceiling pantry. A hidden bar next to the kitchen, creates a dramatic sparkling focal point for the living area when entertaining.
At the core of the home, a spa-like bathroom is encased within the central mass of cabinetry. Walls are lined with glistening dark jade green tiles, complemented with earthen terracotta flooring.
